Answer me this...

How do you keep happy healthy children, a house clean and your own sanity all in the same day? I feel like if I could start each day with a clean environment I'd have an advantage in the morning and a more productive day. Can't seem to get there and when I occasionally do, it doesn't last.

This is an issue in my house, and it's driving my husband crazy. I don't feel that his annoyance with the matter is unreasonable either. I just can't seem to get over the hump and pick up the clutter, keep up the with dishes (my children of course have different food allergies, therefore, resulting in using every pot and pan in the house each day), making a dent in the endless laundry pile and even more challenging than that, taking the time out to put the clean clothes away, make 3 meals (really 6+ due to the allergy excuse) plus snacks, entertain the monkeys, and drive in the car all day long going from point A to home, point B to home, point C....

I think there should be a spa on the other side of town where I can go to for a week and receive training in this matter plus manicures and pedicures on the side (while I'm there and all....) After all, in the work world, Todd gets to go to a seminar for work and get a yummy lunch or dinner, cocktails and adult conversation all in one shot. I'll take the pampering instead! Sounds fair to me! From my messy home to yours (clean or not) please give me hope!

I'm sorry. That is no fun, and most of us can relate. Put your kids to work. No "this" until "that" is done. They can help with the dishes and clean their rooms and whatever other messes they make. It took me a while to realize if they are capable of making the mess, they can certainly clean it up!! So get them involved!! Good luck.

Thanks Jennifer, I agree, that will help keep the house in order and help them in the long run!

I want to clarify: I don't think most of us can relate exactly to your situations of 200 meals a day. That might just put me over the edge, but you aren't alone in feeling like "You've got to be kidding me???" Sometimes I expect little orphan Annie to show up on my doorstep and sing "the sun will come out tomorrow."

Michelle, I am tired keeping up with my mess too! But your are right, I hate waking up to yesterdays mess. I have started with Payton, if she wants to play something different, then she has to clean up what she played with first! And if she doesn't... they she just lays around until she is darn good and ready to clean up! UGH! What is funny is, if the kids were not here... my house would be PERFECTLY CLEAN... but not perfect... I would miss the mess and the little feet around the house! I agree though... a nice place to go and be would be great! Let's go for training together! :)
